Automating PeopleSoft Server Builds, Deployments, Infrastructure CPU Patching, with Ansible

UMass Amherst IT is migrating its servers to Linux. To address labor-intensive manual processes, this project implemented Ansible-based automation. We developed Ansible playbooks, stored and managed in a Bitbucket repository, to automate PeopleSoft server builds and deployments, including People Tools DPKs, WebLogic, Web domains, App server domain builds and deployments. Additionally, we automated infrastructure CPU patching. This resulted in significant efficiency gains, reduced errors, deployment times reduced to less than 10 minutes and streamlined critical security patching.
